Name
My full name in Vietnamese is Nguyễn Đăng Mạnh, in the
order: surname-middle name-first name.
My PhD project
The title of my PhD project is "Iso-geometric analysis and shape optimization in electromagnetism".
My supervisors are Anton Evgrafov ,
Jens Gravesen (main) .
( Allan Roulund Gersborg was one of my supervisors. In June 2010, Gersborg changed his organization).
The period
of my project is February 2009 - February 2012.
My research
I
am a member of a new research group in Department of
Mathematics, namely Isogeometric analysis and shape optimization.
I
am also a member of the Topology Optimization Research group.
We first
consider isogeometric shape optimization from the
methodological point of view. To this end, we investigate how to extend a B-spline parametrization of a
domain from the boundary to its interior in an inexpensive and robust way:

shape optimization of vibrating membranes (downloadme)
(with A. Evgrafov, A.R. Gersborg,
and J. Gravesen), Computer
Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 200, 1343-1353, 2011. DOI:10.1016/j.cma.2010.12.015
For constraining
multiple eigenvalues of the Laplacian
operator, we need to find smooth replacements:

sensitivities of multiple eigenvalues (With
J. Gravesen, and A. Evgrafov),
Structural
and Multidisciplinary optimization, DOI:
10.1007/s00158-011-0644-9.
For shape
optimization and isogeometric analysis methods, see
Isogeometric
analysis and shape optimisation (With
J. Gravesen, A. Evgrafov,
A.R. Gersborg, and P.N. Nielsen), in Proceedings of 23rd Nordic Seminar on Computational Mechanics,
(A. Erikson and G. Tibert eds.), Stockholm 2010, pp.
14-17.
We then
moved on electromagnetics. Our first task is
utilizing isogeometric analysis to simulate
electromagnetic models:

analysis toward shape optimization in electromagnetics (with
A. Evgrafov, J. Gravesen,
and J.S. Jensen), Proceedings of 23rd Nordic Seminar on Computational Mechanics,
(A. Erikson and G. Tibert eds.), Stockholm 2010, pp.
18-21.
We now have
results for improving efficiency of wireless energy transfer:
Shape
optimization of sub-wavelength antennas using isogeometric
analysis (with A. Evgrafov, J. Gravesen), International Journal for
Numerical Methods in Engineering, submitted.
On going:
Isogeometric
analysis modeling and optimization of nano-dimensional
golden antennas, in collaboration with a physics
group at University of Southern Denmark.
We finally
got new results for a joint problem with Domenico Lahaye, Delft University of Technology. A first corresponding
paper is being finished:
Economical
designs of magnetic density separators using isogeometric
analysis and shape optimization (with A. Evgrafov, J.
Gravesen, D. Lahaye),, Structural and
Multidisciplinary optimization, to be submitted.
